Fundraiser in Missoula on Thursday, Aug. 20

For those of you in Missoula, please come to the Congo Initiative fundraiser this coming Thursday, August 20th from 7-9pm on the 3rd floor of the University of Montana's School of Journalism (Don Anderson Hall).

Justin Hubbard, Director of Development and Partnership for the Congo Initiative, and Arnila Santosa, grad student in International Peace and Conflict Resolution at American University, will speak about their experiences working and conducting research in war-torn DRC. I'll also talk about my goals for teaching in Congo. Beer and wine have been donated by Big Sky Brewery and Clear Weather Wines.

If you can't make the event, but would still like to donate to help me get to Congo, you can use the "donate" button on this blog to donate via PayPal. If you would rather PayPal not make any money off your donation (yes, they do take a small percentage), you can mail checks directly to me at:

Anne Medley
2310 Lester St.
Missoula, MT 59801

Lastly, I'll be starting a collection project for used digital cameras, audio recorders and video cameras for the journalism department at Universite Chretienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC) soon. If you have upgraded your digital point and shoot or SLR camera recently (or audio or video gear) and would be willing to donate your old equipment to help Congolese students, please let me know.

Thanks so much again for everyone's support.
